Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to clean my PC?
Removing unwanted viruses, malware, and ransomware can vary between devices, depending on how complex the infection is. In most cases, we can completely remove unwanted infections within 1-2 hours at most. We will always provide you with an initial estimate beforehand.
Will I lose any files or documents?
We always try and retain files and applications you’ve installed on your devices, however complex infections can sometimes result in your device needing a full system reset. This typically restores factory software defaults and can potentially lose files, however it’s very uncommon to go down this route.
Do I need to bring my computer in?
Not necessarily. In some instances we can fix virus infections remotely, however it’s always quicker and better if you can bring your device in for a full deep scan and assessment.
What devices can you help me secure?
We can help with virus, malware, and ransomware removal on laptops, desktops, and mobile phones. We also work with Apple/ Mac and PC/ Windows and Android phones.
Do I need to buy any software?
We use the latest and greatest in antivirus and malware removal software, ensuring that all known virus databases and definitions are up-to-date with each scan. You do not need to pay for any software as part of our service, however we would always recommend you have an antivirus tool in-place to help with potential future infections. These recommendations are included in our advice and tips post-fix.
Have I been hacked?
Unfortunately, modern-day hacks come in many shapes and sizes from dodgy downloads, leaked passwords and login credentials, to fully hijacked devices. The most common occurrences are phishing scams that obtain credentials by illicit means, usually resulting in hijacked devices and access to your personal accounts.
It is important to remain vigilant and not release any personal/ secure information, however if you believe you have been victim to a hack or are victim of a cyber-crime, please visit Cyber.gov.au to report your security incident. Feel free to give us a call and we can point you in the right direction as well.
Can Apple and Mac's get viruses?
Yes. Unlike what most people believe, it is possible to download a virus or malware on Apple devices, including laptops, desktops, and iPhones. This commonly occurs through phishing scams or applications that have been downloaded through unofficial websites.
Why do I keep getting pop-ups?
Pop-ups are a sign of a potential virus or malware infection in your device, and should be treated urgently. These typically come in the form of trying to trick you into some action, like downloading a file, however some browsers can also be tricked into allowing pop-up notifications. Either way, a full system virus scan and extension review is recommended.
